ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

HUTT RAILWAY DIVISION

The annual meeting or, the Hult Valley Railway Ambulance Division of the St. John Ambulance was held at the Hutt Workshops recently. Divisional Superintendent R. C. Horwell presided over a good attendance of members and friends.

The divisional secretary's eighth' annual report showed that steady progress was being made. The strength at the end of 1936 was fifty-one members.

' Members were on duly at ten sports grounds: from Hutt Park to Maidstone Park during the winter, at cricket matches .on' the Hutt Recreation Grounds, Wellington Easter Show, Waiwhetu School garden fete, picnics, workshops gymnasium, opening of the National Art Gallery and Museum, and the Proclamation of King George VI. The total attendances were 304 and the cases treated 493. The cases attended when members were not on public duty were 8799.

First-aid instructors were supplied for companies of the boys' brigade and troops of Boy Scouts. Members also acted as judges for the Wairarapa and •the Hutt Valley and Bays Boy Scout ambulance competitions. .

The storekeeper's report showed that several new uniforms had been procured and a considerable quantity of first-aid material used.

Permission is to be obtained to hold first-aid classes in the workshops at an early date.

Ross: instructor, Ambulance Officer-A. McPhcrson; public duty officer. Ambulance Officer A. B. Gray; divisional storekeeper, Sergeant E. R. Menzies; assistant storekeeper. Corporal H. I. Cha'ppell; trustees, Divisional Superintendent R. C. Horwell, Ambulance Officer A. McPherson, Private R. L. Gray; welfare committee, Divisional Superintendent R. C. Horwell, Ambulance Officers A. Dr. J. Alex. Doctor will deliver an address- to the division on February 16.
