MR. SAVAGE'S TOUR

SOUTH ISLAND ITINERARY The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) is to leave Wellington on February 18 on a ten-days' tour of Canterbury, Otago, and Southland in company with the Minister of Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong). The itinerary is as follows: The Ministers, accompanied by their private secretaries, will leave Wellington by the inter-island steamer express on Thursday evening, February 18, for Christchurch, where the weekend will be spent. During Friday afternoon Mr. Savage, as Minister of Native Affairs, will visit the Maori settlement at Tuahiwi. On Sunday the Ministerial party will leave Christchurch by train at 11.2 p.m. for Dunedin. After a busy day in Dunedin they will leave by the 4.40 express train for Invercargill, arriving there shortly after 9 p.m. The following day will be spent in Invercargill, where several deputations will be received. On Thursday morning the Ministers will leave by train for Oamaru, where the afternoon and night will be spent. On the Friday, probably about 10 a.m., they will leave Oamaru by motor-car for Timaru, where the greater part of the day will be spent, also the night. Next morning they will leave by car.early in the forenoon for Ashburton, going on in the afternoon to Christchurch. On Saturday evening they will leave Lyttelton for Wellington, arriving on Sunday, February 28.
