Sigurd and Cricket, who have been disappointing in their recent racing, are now- enjoying a spell.
The Southland Racing Club has granted the Birchwood Hunt Club permission to use the Invercargill course for its Annual Meeting on March 13.
Courtcraft, top-priced yearling at 1200 guineas at last year's sales, is entered to have his first racing at Woodville this month.
It is reported from Southland that H. E. Gray has inquired concerning accommodation for several horses at Riverton for the Easter Meeting.
According to a southern report, Cloudy Bay has been purchased from her Palmerston North owner-breeder, Mr. T. F. Relling, by a patron of S. Barr's stable. She was due at Riccarton today.
Owing to not being able to proceed with the anticipated reorganisation of the club, the Dannevirke Racing Club has returned a one-day permit to the Waipukurau Jockey Club, which used it last season. •
Rona Bay, Arctic King, Siegmund, and Geitel are Trentham. entrants for the open distance handicaps at the Woodville ' Meeting this month.
During T. R. George's absence in Australia, C. Pritchard will assist the stable head man, P. Reardon, with the "Brentwood" team. Pritchard may take Galteemore and Darecourt to Woodville this month.
Stealth, a former New Zealand galloper who ran second to Roseburn in the King's Cup run at Perth in 1931, changed hands recently at auction for 10 guineas.
Solaria, who last season was travelling all about the North Island, but who this season so far has been settled in the north, lately under A. E. Keesing's care, is apparently to start travelling again. He has been nominated for sprint events at the Egmont and Woodville Meetings.
Fulojoy, recently sold to Mr. J. T. Evans, of Feilding, for 100 guineas, was purchased mainly for use at the stud, but she is apparently to be tried further as a racer first, as she has been nominated by her new owner for Woodville.
The defection of Dragon, Moth from her engagements at the Takapuna Jockey Club's Meeting at Ellerslie last week was due to the fact that she gave one of her legs a knock on a fence and when the limb filled it was decided to withdraw her. The trouble is not serious and she will probably race again shortly.
