The authorities have disclosed that Dr. J. B. Davis, aged 67, who disappeared a week ago, was kidnapped and held for 5000 dollars' ransom. The family received a note in the physician's handwriting stating the ransom demanded.
The authorities refused to discuss the case, but it is learned that Dr. Dayis's medicine case was found in a river, causing grave concern as to whether he has been slain.
