SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

The anticyclone mentioned yesterday still lies across northern New Zealand. Tho first part of tho depression advancing' from the Tasman Sea now lies across the northern portion of the South Island, but, except for causing the wind to freshen from the north, has had littlo influence on tho! weather. A secondary is, however, following it and is now causing light rain in the far south. Tliore have been temporary changes of wind to southwest in parts of tho South Island. A few light showers have been recorded in the extreme north whero easterly winds have provailed. A fresh anticyclone is now moving from Australia, on to the western Tasman.
