VICTORIA COLLEGE
LECTURER IN PHILOSOPHY
The council of Victoria University College, at a special meeting, appointed Dr. Ernest Beaglehole, M.A., Ph.D., to be lecturer in philosophy at Victoria University College, a position formerly held by Dr. I. L. G. Sutherland, who was recently appointed professor of philosophy at Canterbury University College.
The council also appointed Professor T. A. Hunter as warden of Weir House,* another position which was formerly held by Dr. Sutherland. '
Dr. Beaglehole was at the University of London for two years and there was awarded his Ph.D. for work in philosophy. He was the third of his family to travel to England with a New Zealand University scholarship; he was senior scholar in philosophy in 1926, and won a post-graduate scholarship in arts two years later.
