TOURIST OFFICER'S LECTURE
Scenic wonders of New Zealand, illustrated, by moving pictures, were thei subject of an address delivered to a recent meeting of the Wadestown and Highland Park Men's Society by Mr. W McKeown, of the, Tourist Department. The films depicted the country around the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, with many beautiful scenes of ice and bush. Thermal activity and native dancing in the Botorua district were the subjects of another film, and yet another, entitled "New Zealand's Charm," depicted a run through the Dominion, with shots of the principal cities and other noted places, as well as of deep-sea and trout fishing. Next came "Happy Altitudes," showing Mount Cook in summer and winter garb, and other peaks of wonderful beauty. Not the least interesting of Mr. McKeown's entertainment was his nviaoriland Monologues," dealing with Tikitere, or "Hell's Gate." Mr. McKeown traced the great advances made in catering for tourists in New Zealand. He terminated his remarks by saying that the Tourist Department and the people of New Zealand, judging by the expressions of appreciation, had given great satisfaction to visitors to the Dominion.
