DIFFERENT PROCEDURE FROM NEW ZEALAND

CANBERRA, This Day.

Following the announcement frorrt New Zealand of the introduction of legislation to protect British shipping against foreign competition, it is announced that legislation with a similar object -is to be introduced in tha Federal Parliament soon.

The Minister of Defence, Sir Archdale Parkhill,. stated that full details of Australia's proposals for protection of trans-Tasman shipping would be supplied to the House later. Although the New Zealand Act provided for action to be taken^by Order in Council, different procedure would be prescribed in the Australian legislation.
