CABINET BAN DEFIED
BELGIAN FASCISTS
DEMONSTRATION ON SUNDAY
BRUSSELS, October 21.
Cabinet has banned the Rexist (Fascist) demonstrations arranged to take place here on Sunday.
The Rexists declare that they will defy the ban.
,The Socialist newspaper "Peuple" describes the Rexist demonstration as a provocation, as the Socialists had previously planned a meeting for Sunday. It adds that the workers will not be slow to accept the Rexists' challenge. "If the Resists want street brawls they will have them."
A cable, from Brussels dated October: a 7 stated that M. Paul Spaak, Foreign Minister, announced that the Government was planning a big campaign against the Rexist Party, which, he declared, had no programme. Its aim was to win power without delay and establish a totalitarian State under the dictatorship of M. Leon Degrelle. The country's middle group musf organise' to defend its liberties. The Rexist Party replied to the speech by announcing the demonstration for October 25. Forty-six special trains were to bring Rexists to Brussels from all parts of the country.
