DUNEDIN, October 22,
''Taking -into consideration the circumstances in which the crimes were committed and reports as to your past conduct I think the only course is to order'your detention in a Borstal institution," said Mr. Justice Kennedy in the Supreme Court this morning, when addressing Stanley Geo*rge James Murray, aged 19 years, and Rolfe Jefferson Shirreffs, aged 174, both of whom appeared for sentence on five charges of breaking, entering, and theft from warehouses, two charges of breaking arid entering and theft from shops, two charges of breaking, entering and theft from counting houses, and two charges of breaking and entering counting houses with intent to commit crime.
Each of the prisoners was ordered to be detained in a Borstal institution for a period of two years.
