Sir Charles Clifford, Stonyhurst, and his sister, Mrs. George Macdonald, Lowry Hills, arrived.in Wellington yesterday to attend the Trentham races. Miss Patricia Dawson and Miss Marjorie Mappin, of Auckland, who are to be bridesmaids at the wedding next week of Miss Mary Paterson and Mr, Ralph Sketch, will arrive in Wellington during the weekend and will be the guests of Mrs. J. B. MacEwan, "Toronto," Fitzherbert Terrace. Mrs. MacEwan's niece, Miss Gypsie Matheson, of Auckland, who has been her guest for the past week, will leave on Monday for Masterton. Miss Jean Batten, who arrived in Wellington this morning, is staying at the Hotel St, George. Mr. and Mrs.. Frank Graham will leave Christcburch tomorrow for Wei. lington, where 'they will attend Miss Mary Paterson's wedding on Wednesday. Mrs."R. W. Morrow and Miss Anne Morrow- arrived in Wellington yesterday from Chrjstchurch for the races. Mrs. Grumitt, .Wanganui, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. Saunders, 22 Hobson Street, for; the races. Miss V. Hynes, Tai fapu, who has I been staying in Wellington for the last ' few months, has returned to the south, Mrs. W. Willes, who has been in Wellington for several months with her brother, Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, has returned to Qhristchurch. Miss Russell-Fergusson, Edinburgh, is spending a few days in Wellington prior to sailing for Sydney, en route for Java, Bali, and Japan. A cable has been received stating that the wedding took place yesterday at Landikotal, Peshawar, India, of Miss Hilda Miles and Brigadier-General Moles worth, of the 4th Ghurkas. Mrs. L. A. Willoughby, Christchurch, is staying at the Hotel St. George, _ Mrs. W. H. Simpson, Wellington" is spending a short hplidaylwith Mrs. A. F. McKenzie, Olrig, Hastings. ;. ; Miss Joyce Rowland and Miss Joan Albertson, Wellington, will leave on the Rangatira tonight for a brief visit to the South Island. Mrs. F. D. Wilson, Mrs. J.
