YOUNG WOMAN'S ACT

EVIDENCE AT INQUEST

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

BLENHEIM, This Day.

A young married woman separated from her husband and known as Helene Duane, aged about 24, shot herself with a .22 rifle at a farmstead at Dashwood, where she was employed as a cook.

• The evidence at the inquest disclosed that the deceased was engaged from a registry office in Well»nSton> when she gave her name as Helene Duane, but when an examination of her box was made a document was found which proved to be a separation agreement between Helene Dellabarca and her husband, Francesco Dellabarca, fisherman, of Wellington.

It was stated in evidence also that a man, an insurance agent, had.been in the habit of' seeing the deceased and they .went out together. Yesterday morning the deceased was called to the telephone, and when she came away she remarked to her mistress that "Billy was going away to the North Island, flying over." She seemed depressed, although ordinarily she was bright and cheerful.

A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned.
