REBUFF TO M BLUM
CRITICS AT TOULOUSE
TERMS OF FURTHER SUPPORT
United Tress Association—By Electrlo graph—Copyright. > , PARIS, October 20. . The attempt of the Prime Minister, M. Blum, to rally the Popular Frorrt has already received a rebuff. Radical Socialists at Toulouse .-.not only criticised the Government's policy, but resolved that they could not continue to collaborate with M. Blum if the wishes of the parties forming the Popular Front are not more respected. ;
< Speaking at Orleans, M. Blum threatened to resign and go to the country if the1 Radicals deserted him. He, added that political honour prevented his governing on any other basis than that of the Popular Front. He fully realised that problems were disturbing his more moderate supporters/especially the prevalence of strikes. Nevertheless, repressive action against the workers would deal a mortal blow at democratic government. M. Blum similarly warned the Communists to temper their extremism, as the middle classes were becoming irritated and alarmed. The Government's intense social and economic changes necessitated a period of stability. ■ '-.
