ASHHURST TRACK WORK

(Special to the "Evenlno Post.") PALMERSTON N., October 20.

The Ashhurst racecourse was the scene of much activity during the weekend, when a number of lightharness horses were put through their paces in preparation for the Manawatu Trotting Club's Labour Day Meeting at Awapuni. The inside grass was available, and the going was good. • Azel Maid (W. Garnett) and Little Acron (H. Tagg) were the first panout. Going from the mile and a hair mark, Azel Maid began quickly, and she was ■in front until they turned for home. Little. Acron then put in a Useful run and they were on terms passing the post, the time being 3mm 38sec. Bolinda King (W. Garnett) and Juggler (in saddle) hopped away from the mile, and Juggler took the lead and maintained it until nearing the finish. Then Bolinda King put in a final dab and he was alongside Juggler as they passed the post. The time, 2min 19sec, was good, Franz Derby (Farland) and Baron Grand (W. Garnett) were sent along over a mile and a half, keeping together throughout. Baron Grand had a very slight advantage at the finish, The time was 3min 34sec, ' Storm Queen (W. Price) sprinted a couple of. half-miles'in lmin 9sec. Aerial Boy and Native Worry■ (W. Garnett) trotted a mile and a half m 3min 48sec, finishing together. Earl Bingen did solid work, but was. not out after time. ■ •King Franz and Pharina went a mile on the outside of the course proper. The time" was 2min 22sec, ana both, worked very well. , . .
