BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY
A most enjoyable evening was presented at the rooms of the British Sailors' Society recently, a concert arranged by Mr. C. Cooze being staged before a large audience of seamen and friends, among whom, were a large number of men from the whaling ships in port. The programme consisted of songs, instrumental numbers, and elocutionary numbers and dances by the pupils of Miss Gertrude Shardlow. Songs were contributed by Mrs. Rosenthai, Misses Violet Roberts, Margery Whittingtori, Betty Rosenthal,' Violet Smith, and Mr. Lynch; elocutionary numbers by, Miss Henry and Mr. T. Knight, dances by Misses Chrissie Hall, Audrey Andrews, and Noeline Mardoiv and instrumental numbers by Messrs. Millard, MacKay, and Millard, jun., and G. Lovatt. Supper was served by the members of the society and the evening brought to a close with the National Anthem. Miss Flora MacKenzie was the accompanist. •
