SNOOKER
CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY
Further games of the Wellington provincial amateur snooker championship were played last night at Billiards, Limited, Showrooms. There was a large crowd present. D. J. Goodwin, Hawera, eventually won comfortably from A. Wakem (Federal Club), though the disparity in the first game was only 12 in Goodwin's favour. However, during the second game Goodwin settled more to the championship environment, with happy results to himself, and exhibiting sound potting ability, he soon ran to points, 101, with his opponent at 48. Should he show the same form in future games he will be very difficult for the local contenders. . , . E. W. Petersen (Federal Club) had some difficulty in overcoming H. Dyhrberg (Te Aro Club), the latter winning the first game, 56-53. Petersen, however, was predominant in the second, and eventually had points called in his favour, 131-84. D. MacKenzie (Working Men's Club) and W. G. Fitzgerald (St. Patrick's Old Boy's Association) showed great respect for each other's ability by not presenting the slightest opportunity throughout most 0f... the two games. Thus the opportunity was not afforded either to show any undue brilliance, though the play had the merit of being keen. Fitzgerald compiled a lead of 17 on the first game, which he later extended to win by 119-71. , Sg S eS?c?ffi SSoS this "D: J. Goodwin1 (Hawera) meets J.
