AFTERNOON AT PRACTICE
SATURDAY'S EVENTS
In preparation for the commencement this week of the Wellington Cricket Association and Mercantile Cricket League championship competitions, there was much activity on the fields of play on Saturday afternoon, full advantage being taken . of. the available wickets. All demands for wickets could not be met, and in many cases the batting time for each player was limited in order that as many as possible would be able to have the benefit of a "pipe opener." In the Hutt Valley a start was made with the Hutt Valley Cricket Association's competitions. ■ All the Wellington Cricket Association's senior clubs had outings. Midland had an engagement with Haspital, at Porirua; Karori and University were at Karori Park; Wellington and Institute Old Boys were at Kelburn Park; Wellington College Old Boys had a practice at Wellington College;! and Kilbirnie and Hutt were at their home ground's.,
