A stroke competition on the Hull links on Saturday'was won by EChandler, with 77/8—69. The runnerup was P. J. R. Fordham, with 87, 10 —71.

Jenkins then made a spurt and was dormie 2, 'but Flanagan showed fine fighting spirit, won the thirty-fifth and thirtysixth, and took the match at the thirtyseventh by sinking a putt for a birdie 3. .
