A RACE HE CANNOT WIN
H.H. Aga Khan's Taj Akbar, who ran second to Mahmoud in the Derby and who was sent to Ostend last month for the Grand International, 1 mile and 3 furlongs, failed to avenge last year's defeat of his stable-companion Theft. M. M. Boussac's filly Corrida, runner-up twelve months ago, won easily from the Fitzßoy House colt.
Taj Akbar, in an inside position, was badly off, and was almost last shortly after the race had started. - Smirke did everything he could to manoeuvre Taj Akbar into the leading group, and when they came into the straight he asked his mount for a final effort. Taj Akbar responded ■<• well, and he and Corrida went to r the front, leaving Quai d'Orsay, who had led most of the way, far behind.
