FRUIT CASE PRICES INCREASED
Standardised prices for fruit cases in Hawke's Bay, according to the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation's official organ, have been increased for the 1936-37 season by from 42 to 73.9 per cent, over quotations for 1935-36. The rise in price of fruit, cases is attributed to "recent Government legislation relating to wages." Mr. A. Osborne, manager of the Fruitgrowers' Federation, told a large meeting .of fruit growers in Hastings that they need not pay these prices, even if cases were brought in from other parts of New Zealand. The federation was not prepared to buy from the local millers at the new list rates.
