"1936 REVIEW"
ATHENIAN CLUB'S BALL
The grand plain and fancy dress ball, entitled the "Athenian 1936 Review," held in the Pharmacy Hall last evening, brought the Wellington Athenian Club's season to a close. The committee made special arrangements for the event, and a large attendance of members and visitors enjoyed themselves immensely. The function took the form of a "review" of the many successful nights of the season and most of the dresses and costumes represented the various decoration schemes of the year, the whole effect being one of gay variety. The decorations, as usual, were original and charming.
The judges for the fancy dress costumes were Mr. and Mrs. Victor S. Lloyd, who awarded the prizes to the following:—Mr. and Mrs. R. Friend ("Jack and Jill"), Mr. R. Dredge ("Back to Childhood"), Mrs. C. M. Howard ("Mac West"), Mrs. Olsson ("Colleen"), Miss G. Nannestad ("Maori"), Mr. C, M.'Howard. ("George Arliss"), Miss M. Chorley ("Russian"). Mr. R. Walshaw ("Legionnaire"), Mr. Mrs., and Miss Strange-Mure (Dutch group)', and Mr. M. Howard ("Pianoaccordion") .
