GENERAL GOMBOS
MUNICH, October 6.
The death has occurred from urae» mia of General Gombos, Prime Minister of Hungary, after a long illness.
General Julius Gombos was bom an 1886 and educated in the military schools at Pecs and Vienna. He served in the Serbian and Russian campaigns in 1914 and 1916 and was military attache at Zagreb in 1918. In the year after the war he became president of the Hungarian National Defence Assoclation, and during the Communist dictatorship of Bela Kun be organised the counter-revolution from Vienna and Szeged. In 1920 he became a Deputy In the Hungarian Parliament, and m that year and the next he played a leading part in frustrating the efforts of Charles IV to regain the throne, In 1923 he became leader of the Kace Defence Party, a post he held until 1928, when he joined the Unionist Party and became State Secretary for National Defence. In 1929 he was made Minister of National Defence, and he held this office until 1932, when he became Prime Minister. In 1934 He was made a lieutenant-general of infantry.
