CARD PARTIES AND KORERO
There was another very good attendance at the weekly card party held in the Kilbirnie K.S.A. Club rooms last evening, and the visitors were well satisfied with the evening's entertainment. Prizes for "bridge" were won by Mrs. H. Wrigley and Mr. H. Parke, whilst the best scores for "500" were returned by Mrs. S. Hanseri and Mr. C. Cooper. . ■At the ladies* card afternoon held last Thursday the prize for "bridge" was won by Mrs. Holberton and the "500" by Mrs. Boesley. The final "korero" for the season was held last Friday night in conjunction with the Miramar auxiliary; and was a fitting wind up to a successful term. The programme arranged was both attractive and entertaining, whilst the refreshments left nothing.to be desired. One very popular, feature was a competition in which , a prize was awarded to the "digger" who could tell the biggest and best, story. .There were several competitors, and the prize was awarded by unanimous vote to Digger P. Coira. .".-.. Items were given by the. following diggers:—Messrs. P. Coira, B. Brown, R. Fisher, J. Drinnan, F. Histed, R. "Williams, and D. Stirrat. Mr. D. Stirrat sang the "Requiem" in memory of fallen comrades. Mr. R. Brown was the accompanist
bridge, Leeds (ice-blue satin and silver embroidery, red shoulder posy), Mrs. Downie, Rhodesia' (midnight blue satin), Mrs. Burke (brown toned chiffon), Mrs. E. Hunt (royal blue lace), Mrs. James Payne (ivory cloque and lace), and Mrs. J. A. Doctor (winecoloured moire and chiffon).
