( By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day.

A;statement was made today by Councillor W. B. Tennent that it was hot his intention to proceed further with any contemplated proceedings against Councillor J. Hodgens, M.P., in consequence of a reference to himself contained' in a telegram which ' Mr. Hodgens forwarded to the City Council three weeks ago. Mr. Tennent today said that though tie considered the proper place for Mr. Hodgens to make withdrawal of the statement was at the council table, he understood from people who had attended the public meeting in the Opera House on September 19 that Mr. Hodgens there had made the necessary withdrawal. Mr. Tennent said he now. regarded -the -matter •as closed.
