ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

Sir James Elliott presided, over the monthly executive meeting o£ the Wellington Centre St. John Ambulance Association on Thursday. * It was reported that the secretary, Mr C. Meachen. visited Nelson on September 27 for the purpose of addressing the Nelson Rotary Club, and in the evening attended a representative meeting'which, after discussion, re-es-tablished the sub-centre committee on a more representative basis than it had been during the past two years. The secretary also visited Levin and addressed sixty prospective candidates, and it is anticipated that a nursing division and ambulance division will be formed in Levin during the next few weeks. The first-aid class conducted at the Dental Clinic is being instructed in that particular work by Mrs. C. B. Gaby, lady corps superintendent. DrJKennedy Elliott had given the lectures, and it is anticipated that in 1937 . even greater use will oe made of the assocaition for instructing dental clinic probationers in first aid. The work will be conducted on similar lines to the police training depot. The course will be continuous throughout the year. The executive's suggestions for the establishing of roadside first-aid posts have been submitted to the Minister of Transport, Hon. R. Semple, and the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. Laurenson, had also discussed the scheme with the secretary.
