WAIWETU CLUB
The monthly spoon bogey played at Waiwetu on Saturday was won by W. T. Wilson (8), 1 down. The quarter-finals of the seniorjunior foursomes championship resulted as follows:—H. P. Smith and T. J. Harvey beat W. T. Wilson and J. Colquhoun, 3 and 2; Beasley and Matthews beat G. Hatfield and Tosswill, 4 and 2; Spedding and Taylor beat Wallace and Barker, 2 and 1; D. Johnston and J. Garbett beat Gregory and Maitland, 2 up. . Sunday's bogey competition resulted in a tie between T. P. Davis (8), J. G. Newell (18), and A. B. Lusty (15), each 2 down. The mixed Canadian foursome for the captain's prize saw. some good scoring in spite of the high wind. The winners were Miss Lockett and N. J. Sherwood, 86, 19—67, followed by Miss Bowler and J. J. Cheevers, 87, 19—C8, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Smith, 84, 15—69, Miss Horman and T. P. Davis, 86, 15— 71, Mr. and Mrs. G. Hatfield, 87, 16— 71,' and Miss Milne and R. W. Gray, 90, 19—71. WAIWETU'S NEW COURSE. The season which is fast drawing to a close is Waiwetu's last season on its present course, the club having secured new quarters on approximately 67 acres on the city side of Upper Hutt, and at present being used as a public; course and known as Whakatiki. The club intends to retain the name of Waiwetu, in an endeavour to maintain its old traditions and to keep alive its past history. The official closing ' day for the winter season is to take place on Sunday, October 18, and the committee i extends an invitation to all old mem-' bers to be present, on this date, the I last closing day on the old course.
