m ' — The famous tenor, Richard Crooks, gave his final concert in Melbourne at the exhibition on Saturday night to the largest audience ever seen in the building for a concert. Over 18,000 people attended, according Jo cabled advice received by the J* and N. Tait representatives in New Zealand. Special amplifiers were installed, and the artist gave 17 encores before the huge assemblage began to leave the exhibition building. . Richard Crooks and his solo pianist, Frederick Schauwecker, will arrive in Wellington by the Maunganui from Sydney next Monday, and the first of seven gala concerts in New Zealand will take place in the Town Hall, Wellington, tomorrow week, September 29, at 8 o'clock. A programme of universal interest will be presented. For his last programme group the artist will select songs and ballads Irom his huge repertoire. Many numbers made famous by the gramophone will be included. ' For this final group music-lovers are invited to send in the namqs of items desired.
