PIGEON RACING

The Petone Homing Pigeon Club flew a race on Saturday from Taumarunui, an airline distance of 164 ■ miles. Eighty birds competed, representing ten lofts. The birds were liberated at 9 a.m. by the stationmaster, who advised that the weather was fine and there was a light southerly wind. The birds had a fairly strong' wind all the way.
