INTERMEDIATE CREDIT

At the monthly meeting of the Hural Intermediate Credit Board held at Wellington the following-members were present: Colonel J. J. Esson (chairman) and Messrs. E. O. Hales (Commissioner of Kural Intermediate Credit), John Brown, Norton Francis, G. C. Rodda, and W. Waddel. A draft of the annual report of the board for the year ended June 30, 1936, was placed before the board by the Commissioner, and was approved for submission to the Minister of Finance for presentation to Parliament during the present session. The annual accounts of the board and the sixteen district rural intermediate credit boards for the year ended June 30, 1936, were approved, and will be submitted to the Minister of Finance for presentation to Parliament after they have been audited by thp Controller and Auditor-General. Agricultural Bulletin No. 9 on "Rates of Seeding for Farm Crops," which was prepared by the Fields Division of the Department of Agriculture, has been issued by the board, and copies may be obtained from branch offices of the board and from secretaries of co-operative rural intermediate credit associations. Twenty thousand copies were printed, and a distribution has been made with the ready assistance of co-operative rural intermediate credit associations and dairy companies, j. Several co-operative rural intermediate credit associations have recently held their annual general meetings, and reports thereon and copies of the annual reports of the associations were received. It is evident that the associations have been able to provide useful assistance to farmer-borrowers during the past year and that the association method of obtaining finance makes an appeal to those farmers who are aware of the benefits which it offers. Many of the annual reports refer in appreciative terms to the help which the board and its- district representatives have been able to render to the associations and their borrowers.
