ESCAPED CONVICTS
SEARCH IN SWITZERLAND
ANNECY. (France), September 12. Five convicts strangled a warder and escaped from prison into Switzerland, where three were arrested without resistance at Feterne. The ringleader unscrewed the lock in his cell door, knocked out the warder, took the keys, and released three fellow-convicts who, like himself, were serving life sentences for the attempted murder of a. woman tobacconist. The warder recovered and tried to raise an alarm,'but the convicts choked him with a leather strap, went' to a common cell; released ,one of ten prisoners, scaled the walls, and escaped by motor-car and motor-cycle across the Swiss frontier. The police stopped and arrested three of the -escapees, and are still searching for the others..
