LIKELY NOVICE CHASER
• A feature of- the schooling work at Awapuni last weekend was a trial in which two candidates for the Combined Hunt Clubs' Meeting at New Plymouth next week were ■ associated. ■ They were the Bulls-trained Hymgreat, who was taken over to Awapuni by A. E Neale for the school, and the former East Coast gelding Evermore, who is now iuL. Knapp's stable. ■ The two horses went a couple of rounds, being required to take the brush double and the two post-and-rails on the circuit at a steady pace. Although having the advantage of the inside-running. Evermore showed up more attractively than his more experienced companion. Evermore who is engaged in the Trial ' Hunters' Steeples at New Plymouth, is a nine-year-old son of Autumn and the Day Comet mare AH Day, and he was purchased by Mr. K. McK. Duncan after finishing third to Capella Abbey and Cotsfield in the Ferguson Hunt Cup Steeples at Poverty Bay last month at his first public appearance. Hymgreat's first-day engagement at New Plymouth is the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Cup.
