HOCKEY FAREWELL

Hockey players to the number of about 300 were present at the Town Hall on Saturday night when a farewell dance was given in honour of the visiting team of girl players from Fiji.

There was good, music and a wellarranged supper, and much pleasm-e: was given by the guests of honour themselves, for they sat in a ring on the floor, and, to the accompaniment of steel guitars, sang tuneful hula songs. Patsy Wilson gave a demonstration of the hula dance, and later eight Maori girls gave two poi dances and an action song,, which were equally appreciated. The dancers were Misses R. Walker, B. Wallace, M. Black, K. Hakaraia, R. French, and Mesdamcs Wallace and •Wickham.

The officials, including Mr. LastHarris, were complimented on the success of the dance
