According to a Te. Rapa report, Travelling Agent did little schooling after his return from the Wellington Meeting, but he thrived on the solid pacing given him and he left for Riccarton looking in splendid order. Marjory Daw; the just-returned three-year-old full-sister, to Princess Doreen, is reported from the north to have done .exceptionally well during the winter. She was : a winner last term, but was set aside early because she was growing so fast. .; • Mr-,G: J. Barton contemplates sending Cherry Queen up to Captain Bunsby in the hope of getting a near relation to Jack Homer. Cherry Queen is a half-sister, by Diacquenod to Jack Homer, who has lately been proving himself one of the best young stayers in Victoria.

A hunter was Spoiled by racing, and generally was not good enough for racing if a good hunter. Many cross-country horses were educated in the hunting field, but mat is rather different, from converting a horse into a hunter and keeping him at it. A racehorse is hunted only with the ultimate object of making a steeplechaser.
