GOOD YOUNGSTERS
.Two Australian-bred yearlings by Roy Redmond, in A. Brown's Epsom stable, are attracting attention by their effortless style of trotting, and they are welcome additions to the . local unhoppled horses. A youngster who gives the impression that' he may turn out a star is a sturdy colt by Rey de Oro from a Gold Bell mare, who'is not being hurried by L.' Cavalier. The colt is'making steady progress, but has not been required to go fast. . Round the Waikato district .there are several likely-looking" youngsters getting through daily tasks, and one .that impresses is a colt by Rey de Oro from Edna, and thus a half-brother'to the brilliant, if unreliable, Cimarron. He has already shown a fine turn, of speed. ■■ The same owner, Mr. E. L. Breed, has also a colt by Rey de Oro from Bicolour, who was a useful performer in both saddle and harness some years ago. i • One of the best novice prospects trained at Epsom for some time is the rising three-year-old Musketeer, in P. M. Morrison's stable. The juvenile showed decided promise when first placed in work, but it was deemed advisable.to give him a lengthy spell and allow his strength to develop fully. The full-brother to Great Jewel, by Jewel Pointer from Harvest Home, inherits all the family speed, and present indications are .that,he will turn out a very payable proposition. Musketeer claims an engagement in the Great Northern1 Derby, to -be run at Epsom at Christmas, and at this early juncture he looks like being the best of the local candidates for classic honours. ' ■
