A HOME AT LAST
CONCILIATION COUNCIL
Securing a room in which to hold conciliation council sittings has been very difficult in Wellington. Suitable rooms are in demand for other purposes, and latterly the general activity in meetings of all sorts has made it extremely hard to house conciliation council proceedings. Finding a room vacant on the date of commencement is not the only problem. The proceedings may last a day, or two days, and sometimes the room has been booked otherwise for t the second .day. Until the attitude of the parties is ascertained the end of the sittings is most Indefinite. .
A room is being fitted for the purpost at present on the top floor of the Te Aro Post Office. This will serve while only one dispute is being heard on the same day, but where' there are two an additional room will have to be found.
On Thursday next the , carpenters' Dominion dispute, postponed from- July 21, will be commenced, and on Saturday the motion picture dispute. The duration of these proceedings is at present uncertain, but upon their conclusion Mr. M. J. Reardon, who will preside at both; will go to Hastings''for the whole of next week.
On Friday week the soap and candle makers' dispute will be heard in Wellington. *
