WITNESSES NAMES SUPPRESSED

(By Telegraph—Press •Association.')

NAPIER, This Day. On the resumption of the Ayes case in the Supreme Court Mr. Justice Blair this morning ordered suppression of the names of certain male witnesses. This was done in order to protect certain female witnesses whose names were suppressed yesterday. His Honour remarked that it was essential to protect those who had been frank with the police, otherwise, in future cases the officers might have their efforts brought to naught. A married woman gave evidence oE what had twice been performed by the accused. She said she visited Mrs. Ayes because her medical adviser had told her that the good result of a serious operation he had performed would be wasted if a certain course was allowed to proceed.

Another chief witness said that she had successfully visited Mrs. Ayes twice.
