A RECEPTION
ENGLISH-SPEAKING UNION
An interesting talk by Mrs. G. E. Ramsay on her recent holiday in Germany was a feature of the afternoon reception given by the Englishspeaking Union in the Dominion Farmers' Institute yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Ramsay, while in Germany, made her headquarters at Hamburg, where she stayed with her sisters. She spoke of the beauties of Hamburg and the surrounding districts and river Alster, which runs,through the city. The guests of honour at the reception were Mrs. Farhenbach (Germany), Mrs. Bruggeman (Germany), and Miss Chessall (London), who were welcomed by Mrs. D. V. Claridge (president of the hospitality committee). The guests were received by Mrs. W. Duncan and Mrs. M. G. Phelan, and the following were the hostesses:— Mrs. G. D. Good, Mrs. J. K. Preston, Mrs. W. Simpson, Mrs. F. Hood, Mrs. L. T. Schmitt, and Mrs. K. M. McDonald.
Songs were sung by Mrs. N. Willis and Miss H. Bennie, and Mrs. R. Laurenson was .the accompanist. .Among those present were Mrs. W. Ballinger, Mrs. R. M. Roberts, Mrs. W. L.
