SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL
A social, well attended although the weather conditions were wdrthy of the Antarctic, Was held at the Wellington Girls' College, Thorndon, last evening. A.competent committee of prefects re-, ceived the guests of honour, consisting of the staff and past prefects, in the entrance hall.
Music was supplied by three of the prefects, and soon the corridor's were echoing with laughter as girls and teachers joined hands and danced in and out of class rooms to the supper room. There the long supper, tables were pleasingly decorated with the college colours of old gold and black, also Iceland poppies, and the whole presented a cheery contrast to the wintry conditions out of doors. ■
Miss Grieg (principal of the college) spoke to the present prefects for a few minutes, after which the guests recorded their gratitude for such a pleasant evening by singing ''For. They- Are Jolly Good Fellows." After more dancing the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" concluded proceedings. .
