OBITUARY

MISS A. A. LUCKIE

Many old friends here, and in England, will hear with regret of the death of Miss A. A. (Bird) Luckie younger daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs David Mitchell Luckie, early and very respected residents of Wellington Miss Luckie was one of the first staff of the Wellington Telephone Exchange, when the instruments were a novelty and probably the staff had many trials from unaccustomed and inconsiderate people. However, they established a fine reputation for courtesy and patience, and probably Miss Luckie and her confreres had many talks and perhaps jokes over the happenings at the Exchange. Miss Luckie had many friends, and will be missed from her cricle. Her brother is Mr. Martin Luckie, a well-known City Councillor of Wellington.
