Sir,—With reference to the above, the Auckland Harbourmaster is reported in Wednesday's "Post" to have said that in August, 1925, the American battle fleet, consisting of nine large warships, visited Auckland, each vessel drawing 35 feet. .

Reference to the well-known authority, ."Jane's Fighting Ships," gives the following figures regarding these ships' draughts: — Battleships: California/ mean draught, 30ft 3in, maximum draught, ' 31ft; New Mexico, 30ft, 31ft OJin; Colorado, 30ft 6in, 31ft 3|in; West Virginia, 30ft 6in, 31ft 3Jin; Mississippi, 30ft, 31ft OJin; Idaho, 30ft, 31ft Oiin; Maryland, 30ft 6in, 31ft 3£in; Tennessee, 30ft 3in, 31ft; repair ship, Medusa, mean draught, 20ft.—I am, etc., v
