UNIVERSITY BEAT KARORI B.
; Owing to the strong wind and driving rain, short time was played in the University-Karori B match. The students won by 3 goals to nil. The ground was in very slushy condition, and. as a result; good hockey was impossible. Karori were without the services of some of their regular players, and they substituted with senior B men. Although the lower grade players gave satisfactory performances, combination suffered. University, who played the three full-back formation, attacked persistently,; and generally they had a territorial advantage. Karori came near to scoring several times, but the students' defence was sound. At half-time University were leading by 1 goal to nil, Eggleton having scored. The weather became worse in the second spell, and the players tired owing to the necessity of hard hitting on the sticky ground. The students maintained a slight advantage, and Shaw and Robinson increased their lead to 3. Messrs. W. G. Purves and R D Campbell were the umpires. Senior B.
