LOST COLONIES
GERMANY'S POSITION
COMMENT BY MR. SAVAGE
A statement was made yesterday by the Prime Minister. (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage )in' reference to the statement of ' the South "African Minister of Defence (Mr-. O. Pirow) regarding the question of compensating Germany for the loss pf her colonies.
"This matter .is not one, for independent action as far" as New Zealand is concerned," Mr. Savage said. "I do not ; see how there, can be any.question of the, return of mandated' territories which, formerly' were"under German rule until;there has been an opportunity for. full discussion between all the Governments of the British Empire.' New Zealand would naturally I want to. know the views of' Great Britain and the other. Dominions before deciding ; on any course of 'action."
