LONDON, July 17. Raiu-damaged wickets were responsible for low scores in the county cricket championship matches which were concluded today.
, The match between the two leading teams,- Derbyshire' and Kent, ,was won outright by Derbyshire, the other teams which scored outright wins being Warwickshire and Sussex. Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire both lost on the first -innings to teams lower down the ladder. ' /......" .. . > Centuries were scored 'by.;. Townsend (Derbyshire), who also scored 73 not out, and Gibbons (Worcestershire). Among the most successful bowlers were Wilmot (Warwickshire), Astill (Leicestershire), and Jackson • (Worcestershire). '. ; . THE RESULTS. The results were:— i Surrey v. Warwickshire, at the Oval. —Warwickshire 203 (Kilner 89; Watt five for 51) and 182 for eight, declared (Ddllery 88 not out). Surrey 154 (Wilmot seven for 34) and 159.- Warwickshire won by 72 runs.
•' Derbyshire v. Kent, at Burton-on-Trent. —Derbyshire 268 (Townsend 115) and 204 for three, declared (Townsend 78 not out. Kent 184 (A. Pope five for 48) and 147. Derbyshire won by 141 runs. .' - : '•'."•. • -•. :
Yorkshire v. Leicestershire, at Leicester.—Yorkshire 102 (Astill six for 43) and 6 for none. Leicestershire 107 (Bowes five for 41, Smailes five for 49). Leicestershire won on the first innings. .
Glamorgan v. Sussex, at Hove.—Glamorgan -227 (D. Davies 79) and 114. Sussex 198 (Mercer four for 25) and 145 for five. Sussex-won by five wickets; .
Worcestershire v. Gloucestershire, at Gloucester.—Worcestershire 249 (Gibbons 114 not out) and, 147 for eight, declared "(Stephens six for .59). Gloucestershire 134 (Jackson six for 43) and 83 for two. Worcestershire won on the first.innings. ' f '.-
Northamptonshire v. Nottinghamshire, at Nottingham.—Northamptonshire 208 (Jupp 75) and 93. for five. Nottinghamshire 135. Northamptonshire won on the first innings. ■
