A NEW RAJAH
BIG TASK ENDING
TAXIDERMIST'S WORK
(By Telegraph,—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, July 15.
The end of a huge task is in sight at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, where the rebuilding for exhibition purposes of Rajah, the young bull elephant snot at the Auckland Zoo in March, for reasons of public safety, has been progressing steadily in the expert hands of the taxidermist, Mr. C. W. Dover.
A new Rajah of shavings, wire-net-ting, timber, and iron rods has reared itself in the unmistakable brooding, swaying posture of the elephant not in action. The body is now almost ready for the skin, which is being softened and prepared for application next week.
When tlie reincarnation is complete the skin and the tusks will be almost the'only parts of the original Rajah actually embodied.
