LONDON, July 14.

The King invested Miss Jean Batten, New Zealand aviatrix, with the Order of Companion of the British Empire at Buckingham Palace. The King also gave Dr. John Melly's Gold Albert Medal to Dr. Melly's,mother.

Dr. Melly was awarded the Albert Gold Medal.. posthumously, for conspicuous gallantry while in charge of the British Red Cross Ambulance in Northern Abyssinia.
