ihandon won the Watt Cup match at Waiwetu on Saturday by 7 games to 5, but Waiwetu were victorious in the Ranish Cup by 7 games to 3. In an- extra game, B. Hartman lost to N. Tosswill, 2 and 1.
'-Hayward and Holland - halved the first six "holes in 544443. Holland won the" seventh in 5 and the eighth and ninth were halved in 4 and 5, Hayward turning 1 up, having gone out in 38 to Holland's 40. Hayward won the tenth in 4 and was 2 up, but Holland won the next in 4 and squared the game by winning. the twelfth in 4., The thirteenth and fourteenth were halved. "Holland all but holed his tee: shot at ,the 170 yds fifteenth, the ball evidently having."hit the pin and come back a couple of inches. Winning this hole and halving, the next two he won >his match, completing the course in 77 to Hay.ward's 78. Holland's putting was poor during the' early part of the game, and he was just coming on to it towards the close. Hayward played a number of beautiful short chips to the pin. • Dayidge- had a lead of 4 up in the latter stages of his match with Wallace, but Wallace was the steadier over the last holes. '<
.Kretschmar's good work from the tees and his strong iron play contributed to his opponent's defeat.
