LEAGUE'S OPERATIONS
"The efforts of the employment officers to find suitable employment lor disabled soldiers have met with much success," states the second annual re)ort of the Soldiers' Civil Re-establish-nent League, which was presented to he annual meeting of the league yeserday. During the year all skilled irtisans seeking work were placed, but lifflculty was experienced in placing mskilled, partially disabled men not lualified to do labouring work. "The policy of providing vocational raining has been continued with a 'ratifying measure of success, and wi i U fostered wherever possible, alhough advancing years and ineptitude >f many men hinder much further MJogrese," the report stated. "One of he best means of employing disabled nen is still found to be the stimulation )£ home industries, so that large lumbers can produce various hand i■rafts in their own homes, their prolucts being sold for them in the shops ■stablished for that purpose. The hops in Auckland,, Wellington, and :hristchurch all show a satisfactory )osfaon, and in each case a steady tnprovement in business is recorded The staff of the mop factory estabished in Auckland had been increased, he report continued, and it was problble that it would have to be increased igain in the near future. The leather actory in Dunedin was also in a nghly satisfactory position, the output a dog-collars alone being oyer 60,000 ast year. The basket work factory at Jfcborne was finding a ready market or its output.
