PENSIONS

(To the Editor.) Sir,—l read with interest the decision of the members in Parliament that the pensions are to be considered at their next sitting; also new pensions were to be brought up for consideration. Now I hope they will make a new amendment regarding many, who, like myself, are not entitled to receive it under the present system. I have been out from England 22 years, and as the present law is 25 years, before I can apply I have to wait another three years. I am a widow 74 years old with nothing at all coming in, and the only allowance I receive is from the Charitable Aid Board, just food and rent for my room, no money for clothes; so you can be sure, the pension would be a very great blessing to me in my old age. I hear that in New South Wales people get the old age pension at 65 and if they have been in the country 20 years. Why cannot it be the same in New Zealand. I am.etc., A POOR WIDOW.
