IMPROVING THE CITY

(To the Editor.) Sir, —In the scheme of extension of the Wellington Town Hall could not the architects conveniently incorporate glasshouses on somewhat similar lines to the Winter Gardens in Auckland and Christchurch. Those who have visited the begonia houses at the Tinakori Road Gardens each summer have had an insight into what can be achieved by the use of glass.

Visitors to Wellington have very few points of interest to attract their attention, so that the erection of conservatories in the centre of the city might at least add one feature to help make the capital city a better host to its visitors.—l am, etc., SUPREMA A SITU.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —After reading a letter by "Lover of Wellington" regarding a garden in the city, I would like to fully endorse the suggestion. The proposal is a very good one, and worthy of consideration by our City Council to add another "beauty spot to our city. Now that the opportunity has arisen, owing to library alterations, etc., I think that full advantage should be taken of the chance, to enrich Wellington with such a haven of rest and beauty, as this idea if carried out would make.—l am, etc, ARS LONGA.
