MUSEUMS CONFERENCE

Dr. K. S. Allan, of Canterbury University College, who was one of New Zealand's delegates to the Museum Curators' Conference held in Melbourne recently, returned by the Wanganella today from Sydney. The conference, which was called by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, was attended by representatives of Australia and New Zealand only. In addition to Dr. Allan, the New Zealand delegates were Mr. J. Barr (Auckland). Dr.' W. R. B. Oliver, Director of the Dominion Museum, and Mr. G. Archey, of the Auckland War Memorial Museum. The conference was held primarily, said Dr. Allan, for the exchanging of ideas and the development of new methods of technique. One interesting feature was the formation of a New Zealand and Australian Museums Association, which Will be organised on the lines of the British body. Messrs. Barr and Archey were appointed a sub-committee to draw up a constitution for the association.
